"Our mission is to provide each child with the best care and education possible during his/her stay at St. Joseph's Home, in an environment where the child feels safe, comfortable and happy."
— St. Joseph's Home Mission Statement
Holistic Development & Reintegration
St. Joseph's Home cares for children ages 6 to 17 from underprivileged socio-economic backgrounds across Penang. We are a Catholic home guided by the values of compassion, dignity, and faith — open to children of all religions and ethnicities.
Every child who passes through our doors is supported until they are ready to stand on their own. Our goal is that every resident will "develop and grow into a well-formed, healthy, self-reliant, and worthy adult, capable of pursuing a meaningful and successful life."
Monthly operating costs are approximately RM 45,000 — entirely funded by the generosity of our community.
Three Pillars of Our Work
Everything we do at St. Joseph's Home flows from these three foundations.
Formation
We nurture each child's character, faith, values, and sense of identity — helping them grow into people of integrity who are ready to contribute positively to society.
Education
Academic support, tutoring, and access to quality schooling ensure every child can pursue their potential — from primary school through secondary and beyond.
Community Life
Living together, sharing meals, celebrating festivals, and supporting one another — our children experience what it means to belong to a caring, joyful family.
160 Years of Faithful Service
From a small orphanage founded in response to disease epidemics, to a thriving community home serving children of all backgrounds.
Our Board
St. Joseph's Home is governed by a dedicated board that provides oversight, strategic direction, and accountability.
Dedicated Staff
Our staff work tirelessly every day to provide the care, supervision, and support our children need.
Be Part of Our Story
Whether through volunteering, donating, or simply spreading the word — you can make a difference in the life of a child.
